BHUBANESHWAR: The modern capital of Orissa, Popularly known as The Temple City of Eastern India boasts of a cluster of 600 temples still standing on their own. Among those Lingaraj Temple (11th CENT AD)dedicated to Lord Shiva, dominates the skyline of the city. No less famous are the Mukteswara temple, Parsurameswara Temple, Rajarani Temple and 64 Yogini temple where 64 beautiful Yoginis are carved from black chlorite. Around the city The Nandan Kanan wildlife park endowed with natural lake is famous for the rare white tigers and migratory birds.

Dhauli: surrounded by the soothing greenery of paddy fields and Daya river lies 3rd CENT B.C. Ashokan Rock Edict which is the earliest rock cut sculpture in India.
The sculpted elephant atop the edict signifies the Mauryan Emperor Asoka’s conversion to Buddhism after his kalinga victory. Here stands a very modern monument to world peace, Vishwa Shanti Stupa the famous caves of Hatigumpha (Elephant cave) and Rani Gumpha (Queen’s Cave) in Udaygiri and Kharvela Around 1st – 2nd CENT B.C. for Jain monks are the excellent examples of cave art.

| KONARK: The Sun Temple is an extant example of Indian devotion to the Sun-the God of all Gods, the very source of life itself.
